Question
I want a way to automatically detect if an email comes from either common email domains like gmail.com or hotmail.com, or business email domains like zendesk.com or schoolname.com. How can I identify if an email comes from a common or a business email domain?
Answer
We do not have a way to filter or detect if an email comes from a common generic email domain or business email domain automatically.
As a workaround, you can create an organization and map users with common domain names to it. For more information about how to map users automatically to an organization, see the article: Automatically adding users to organizations based on their email domain.
You can then use the organization as a condition in triggers should you want to take additional action such as to set the ticket status to close for common domain emails or in views.
Also, adding domains to your blacklist can block user registration and support requests. For complete instructions about control access, see the article: Using the whitelist and blacklist to control access to MorgWard Support.
